THE OHANA
"FAMILY" PROGRAM
Ohana means "family" in the Hawaiian language. Family participation is a key component of the program. Almost two-thirds of the youth have a family history of addiction. The Bobby Benson Center and its treatment programs help adolescents discover they can break the multi-generation cycle of addiction. During each week, one full day is dedicated to education, family counseling and family fun time. Families eat together as they practice the new skills of a family reunited, free from the bondage of drugs and alcohol.
Sometimes family members
are not able to come to the Center. All clients, whether they have visitors or
not, participate in the Sunday groups. Staff members extend special care with
those clients who may be missing family members unable to visit them.
